For promotion and publicity the Bodoland tourism products and services, the destination of BTR in international and national level where the Experience meets Expertise during the financial year 2022-23, 4 nos. of promotion programmes had been successfully participated viz. SATTE, South Asia’s leading Travel & Tourism Event held in Delhi at India Expo Mart, Greater Noida, Delhi NCR from 18th - 20th May 2022. TTF (Travel & Tourism Fair) held in Kolkata on 1 to 3 July 2022. North-East India Festival held at Bangkok, Thailand on 29th, 30th & 31st July’2022 participated in event to showcase Tourism, Agri products, Potential of Bodoland Territorial Region. ITM (International Tourism Mart) 2022 held at Mizoram during 14-16 November 2022. To provide affordable accommodation and enhance tourist/visitors experience in the new Tourism destination: Raimona National Park, Raimona a new scheme proposed ‘Superior Tenting Accommodation’ has been approved form the BTC during the financial year 2022-23 under the AOP (SOPD) 2022-23. During the financial year 2022-23, the Tourism Department, BTC, Kokrajhar achieved the approval of following guidelines from Govt. of BTC: For registration of Tour Operators under Tourism department, BTC, Kokrajhar. Formation of a core District Picnic Monitoring & Supervisory Committee (DPMSC) and guidelines for picnic spots of BTC for smooth monitoring, management and economic growth of the community involved, thereby maintaining the eco-system of picnic spots in BTC area.

Irrigation Department achievements

In Kokrajhar 296 Nos. of Tube well schemes (Solar operated = 145 Nos. & electrically operated=151 Nos.) under PMKSY-HKKP are being installed within BTC area to cover 1,184 hectares of land under irrigation coverage. All these Tube Wells are already completed and 1184 hectare of Irrigation potential has been created. On the other hand, in Baksa district 150 Nos. of Tube well schemes (Solar operated= 39 Nos. & electrically operated = 109 Nos.) under PMKSY- HKKP are being installed within BTC area to cover 600 hectares of land under irrigation coverage. Out of these, installations of 148 Nos. of Tube Wells are already completed and 592 hectare of irrigation potential has been created. Again, another 100 Nos. of new proposal of Minor Irrigation Schemes under PMKSY-HKKP have been submitted to the Govt. of India for an estimated cost of Rs.500.34 crore for bringing an additional cultivable land of 27,831 hectors under irrigation coverage in BTC Area which has been approved by the Central Govt. and tendering process of the same is going on. a project of extension, renovation and modernization (ERM) of Sukla Irrigation project for Rs.259.73161 crore has been included by the Central Govt. which is implementation target of 2023-24. After completion of these projects 2650 Ha of Irrigation potential will be revived. Total of 17.75 crore was sanctioned under SOPD-BTC for the year 2021-22 and was utilized. Total 86 nos. of schemes were considered for maintenance and repairing for Rs.10.90 Crore.

Projects under Irrigation Department

During 2021-23, 3 nos. of solar operated MDTW schemes were sanctioned for an amount of Rs. 120 Crore. For year 2022-23 total of 18.75 crore is sanctioned under SOPD-BTC for the year 2022-23, 9 nos. of new FIS Schemes are sanctioned for Rs.8.40 crore. Once completed NIA 1365 Ha will be created and 910 nos. of beneficiary will be benefitted. Again 28 nos. of schemes are considered for maintenance and repairing for the cost of Rs.3.35 crore 10 nos. of Solar operated MDTW schemes are sanctioned for an amount of Rs.4.00 crore. This will create 100 Ha NIA and 50 nos. of benefitted. Again Rs.3.00 Crore is kept for BTC share of CADWM of Champamati Irrigation Project. Further, to increase the income of the farmers, motivated drive for undertaking multiple cropping systems to cultivate cash crops on commercial basis is now going in convergence with the Agriculture department.

Animal health care and coverage

With the primary objectives of Animal health care and its prophylactic coverage of the animal wealth of farmers and breeders, the department is always at the door step for rendering service in the villages of BTR. During the year, 2020 to 23 cattle- 39,4408 nos., buffalo- 12,135 nos., pig- 62,3897 nos., poultry- 11,35,736 nos. and others- 2,66,786 nos. of animals are treated. Different vaccines have been vaccinated to cow and pigs that includes: HSBQ- 1,29,759 nos., FMD- 4,25,142 and brucellosis- 2,23,74 and 11,139 bulls, 32,581 goat and 97,271 pigs are castrated.

For genetic up-gradation of local indigenous cattle for higher milk production with well adaptability, a most sophisticated and modern scientific technique, Artificial Insemination with Frozen Semen, has been taken up by this department by giving a thrust of this Animal Breeding Programme. As such Crossbred Calf Rallies are organized usually in different parts of BTR to encourage the farmers and breeders for their active participation in the cattle breeding programme. Altogether 94,500 artificial inseminations have been done and 12,045 nos. male calves and 9949 nos. female calves were born.

The pig husbandry always been identified as a very profit generating activity for many farmers in the BTR. The two) Govt. Pig Breeding Farms at Bhatarmari under Kokrajhar district and at Sonaigaon under Udalguri district are functioning with sincere efforts. The production of crossbred piglets and fattened pig status of pig farms is: piglets: 21, growers: 35, sows: 27 and boars: 3 The only Govt. Cattle Dairy Farm at Katrigacha in Kokrajhar is functional at present with the 16 nos. of Milch cows and with the production of wholesome milk 50 ltrs./day which is in great demand to the interested consumer of both urban and semi urban population of Kokrajhar. The main objective of the Central Hatchery- cum- Chick Rearing Farm at Bhatarmari under Kokrajhar district is to supply quality LIT birds to the farmers of BTR at an affordable price. The chick production data is: 2019-20 – 6028 and 2021-22 – 6418. With the original aim and objectives and concept for rearing of goat & sheep in the Govt. sector is for demonstration and to motivate for attraction and participation of interested farmers and breeders for production of high quality mutton with technical support from the Govt. sheep & goat farm at Panbari, is running smoothly. The farm is also engaged for cultivation and production of hybrid fodder (Napier) which is sold to the interested farmers and supplied to Govt. sector for flood relief.

In 2020-21, the department made distribution of duck to SHG/IBS beneficiary under women empowerment and entrepreneurship development to 10000, 100 units with 10 birds per unit, distribution of goats to the SHG/IBS beneficiary under women empowerment and entrepreneurship development to 250, 50 units with 5 goats per unit and scientific training on piggery and dairying for inculcation of better scientific practices among farmers carried out while rearing livestock is 4 nos. with 320 persons. In 2021-22 training programme for farmers on piggery and poultry under entrepreneurship development was held for 8 nos. with 320 persons, refreshers’ training for vets and paravets of BTR held for 5 with 5 batches, distribution of poultry unit under entrepreneurship development & financial assistance to 8,000 units, 24,000 nos and distributed pig unit under Entrepreneurship Development & Financial Assistance to 50 units with 500 piglets. The outcome of the department is increase in goat population from 2.5 lakhs to 10 lakhs, increase in eggs production to 5 lakh eggs per day, increase in milk production to 1.5 lakh litres per day and increase in pork production to 1 lakh/kg per day.

The indicative plan of the department from January to December, 2023 includes-distribution of 678 goats at a budget of 1.5 crores, distribution of 45,000 LIT birds at a budget of 1.5 crores, increased production of crossbred cattle through artificial insemination in a phased manner, training to farmers under Bodoland Pig Mission, ear-tagging of the pig population and 1,64,000 doses against CSF for swine vaccination.

Bodoland Pig Mission (BPM)

Bodoland Pig Mission (BPM) has an ambitious target of producing 1 lakh kg of pork per day in BTR. This will entail having almost 6 lakhs pig population at any moment, which is almost double of the current pig population of 3.4 lakhs. Hence, a comprehensive and holistic approach is envisaged in line with the One Health Initiative of WHO which is an integrated, unifying approach to balance and optimize the health of people, animals and the environment. It is particularly important to prevent, predict, detect, and respond to global health threats such as the COVID-19 pandemic. (WHO website). The approach taken by Bodoland Pig Mission has the following foci: Awareness , Farm Infrastructure, Disinfection and Hygiene, Prohibition, Surveillance

• A total of 8.7 Lakhs job cards issued in BTR. • 20,000 individual beneficiary Schemes are implemented. • Construction of 700 Anganawadi centres in BTR going on. • 300 volleyball grounds in different schools for girls students are completed in BTR. • 311 nos. Amrit Sarovar projects are taken up and works are going on. • 84,000 nos. of houses are constructed. • 121617 nos. households are provided job under National Rural Livelihood Mission.
